Does dance require more?

Share your experience in preparing as a dancer for an event or conference. Many people don't realize the scarifice a dancer gives to "make room" within their schedule to devote extra time in preparing a choreographed dance. Not only do we as dancers put in hours of rehearsal time to bring forth excellence, but we also sow financial resources to purchase worship garments and materials for props or praise enhancers.

Write your experience from the place you are now in life or was at the time you were preparing as a dancer for an event or conference. For example, if you are a mother of small children, write from that perspective. If your plate is already full when an opportunity to dance is offered, what are some of the steps you've taken to adjust your schedule and to temporarily shift your focus? How does being married or single affect your contribution? Write about the financial sacrifices. Be open with your thoughts. For those of you who are artist in music or song as well as dance, compare the two in preparation for an event. The both require the sacrifice of time and practice, but what else. Does dance require more?

  1. As a dancer who is currently single , preparation for an event or conference is a sacrifice of time, feelings, and finances. Personally, everytime I'm asked to present the ministry of dance, I always experience what the Lord requires me to present. For instance, if the people requires physical healing, financial healing, peace, etc., I usually experience the pain in order to convey the compassion of Christ. Of course I'm always prayerful to make sure this is what the Lord would have me to do and to make sure I'm ministering in the Lord's spirit and not by my "flesh." Many places I've been to minister in dance the enemy tries to make you think " Oh, no one is going to receive what you're doing." You can't go by the people facial expressions or non-expressions. You always have to be led by the Holy Spirit in order to release an atmosphere of praise, an atmosphere of worship, and an atmosphere of deliverance from bondage. As far as the choreography for presentation, He usually gives me my music first and the choreography follows sometimes immediately or maybe a week before the event. In the meantime, I go into training mode such as training my mind and body. I may fast the week(s) prior to the event or I may still be on a fast the day of the event. Whatever way the Lord directs me, He always sustains me. On the aspect of finances, All I have to say about that is " The Lord makes a way." If the Lord instructs you to minister in dance, some how and some way, He makes a way. There is so much more to share but for now, I pray this gives someone a small insight into preparation for a dance or conference. Many times I have to grab hold of this scripture which is ,
" Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5

  2. What you write is very encouraging. It seems as though the Lord always puts us in a place where we have to trust Him. He wants us so completely dependent upon Him - for strength, direction, healing, finances, ideas, everything. I'm so glad we CAN trust Him. I'm so glad we don't have to figure it all out. I'm so glad for Jesus.

  3. My preparation as a praise-dance-minister requires a lot of special ordering of books — including yours!

Only one book in my collection was I able to drive to a local bookstore and pick up: the others had to be specially-ordered in!

But they were so worth it! (I encourage others if they can't find a book they'd like to have, call up their local book store and inquire about a special order; none of mine cost more than the price of the book!).

    --- Or, write your own!

    Thanks for asking,
